Rewire Studio · Clips & scenes
Session View is a clip grid for sketching and performing. Tracks run as columns, scenes as rows. Fill slots, launch a scene, and keep returns and Main sticky while you explore — without committing every idea to the timeline first.
How it works
A practical loop — not a feature checklist.
01
Drop samples into audio slots or click + on empty MIDI slots to create clips. Name scenes so rows mean something.
02
Hit play on a scene row. Studio sets the playing scene, resets the playhead, and starts transport if it was stopped.
03
Mute, solo, ride gains and sends on the column mixer. Returns A/B and Main stay sticky on the right.
04
When a scene idea sticks, move into Arrangement View and build the linear form — same tracks, same devices.
The grid
Each track × scene cell is a clip slot. Filled slots show audio or MIDI; empty audio slots wait for a drop; empty MIDI slots offer + to create. Default sessions start with eight scene rows you can rename.
Scenes
Scene launch fires the row: playing scene highlights, playhead resets, transport runs. Use Stop all clips on Main when you want silence. Per-slot launch keeps evolving — today the performative center is scene-level.
Mixer in Session
Every track column ends in a mini mixer — sends to A/B, pan, vertical gain, meters, mute and solo. Returns and Main stay pinned so you never lose the master path.
Detail
Select a MIDI clip to open the piano roll; audio clips open detail for editing. Session and Arrangement share the device chain on each track.
In the same DAW
Studio is one product — these views share tracks, mixer, and devices.
Timeline
Arrangement View is the linear timeline where songs take shape. Place audio and MIDI clips on tracks, set loops and tempo, and keep the mixer beside you while you build structure.
Notes
Open the piano roll on a MIDI clip and reshape notes without leaving Studio. Draw, select, or slice; fold to scale; ride velocity and probability; or let the Studio agent sketch a pass you still own.
Levels
The mixer isn't a place you escape to — it's a rail beside Arrangement and a strip under Session columns. Balance, mute, solo, and send without breaking the idea.
Plugins
Every track has a device chain. Load Rewire devices and scanned VST3s, open editors, audition while the transport runs, and bounce in place when a sound lands.
Separation
Stem sessions turn a source into focused layers inside Studio. Mute, solo, and level each stem, then pull pieces onto arrangement tracks when the idea lands.
AI assistant
The Studio agent works on your live session — not plugin source code. Describe a bassline or clip layout; it places material with session tools. You keep every edit.
